Behind the Scenes Podcast 2: Bob Moore: Desperate Times

WARNING: Contains Spoilers!!!!

After I finished the first complete draft of Bob Moore: Desperate Times, I was roped into doing a “Behind the Scenes” podcast (link) with one of my beta readers, Rob H. This, second, podcast was recorded just before I finished the last version and includes Liz Vinci, my podcast partner from AV Rant. We talk a bit more about themes, there are questions about the plot/characters/backgrounds that are asked and answered, and a lot more. This is a very long podcast (just over 1.3 hours) so you might want to right-click on the link below to download it for listening on your device of choice. For those that love all those DVD extras and director commentaries, this is for you. For the rest…well, there is always the book.

Behind the Scenes Podcast 1: Bob Moore: Desperate Times

WARNING: Contains Spoilers!!!!

After I finished the first complete draft of Bob Moore: Desperate Times, I was roped into doing a “Behind the Scenes” podcast with one of my beta readers, Rob H. This is very early in the process and you’ll hear some things that either never made it in the book or were cut out in later drafts. This is a very long podcast (just over 1.5 hours) so you might want to right-click on the link below to download it for listening on your device of choice. There is a second podcast to come which was recorded much later in the process. For those that love all those DVD extras and director commentaries, this is for you. For the rest…well, there is always the book. The second podcast can be found here.

Behind the Scenes Podcast 1

Rethinking the Audio

So, I finally got around to listening to an audio book – something I should have done before I started recording. It was R. E. Chambliss, woman who has self published her own book Dreaming of Deliverance. Tanel is reading the book now. She did an audio version of her book which was well received and I have to say, if that is what people are looking for, I’m doing it all wrong. So, it looks like it is back to the drawing board. I’m not sure I can handle having background music throughout the whole thing (I was considering not having any music at all), but for sure I’m reading too fast. Maybe I’ll run it by someone and see what they think. I’m probably going to start over though. I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle mediocrity on the audio side. Must be the Audioholic in me. Sigh. Add another month to the non-existent due date for the podcast version.

Audio Update

Finished up through Chapter 4 in the audio version of No Hero. I hate listening to it. Maybe you won’t. If I had more time I’d make every line crystal clear with perfect pronunciation. I’d give every character an easily identifiable voice. I’d also have no time to work, raise kids, or write the sequel (finished chapter 8 over the weekend). Since it’ll be free (like the book), I suppose it’s a “get what you pay for” sort of thing. We’ll see if I can live with the quality or if my OCD will kick in and I go back and redo the whole thing. If it is the latter, I may never finish.
